Diederik Timmer
Diederik is a seasoned executive with a deep commitment to sustainability and a proven track record of leadership in the field of sustainable investing. With experience spanning over two decades, Diederik has held various strategic roles at &values, Morningstar Inc., Sustainalytics, US SIF, and Knology, where he played instrumental roles in driving growth and fostering innovation. His leadership acumen, coupled with a deep understanding of market dynamics and strategic insights into sustainable investing, has positioned him as a thought leader on topics such as climate, impact, ESG data, global standards, and regulation.
Prior to founding boutique consultancy &values, Diederik worked as Managing Director of Corporate and Climate Solutions at Morningstar Sustainalytics. In this role, Diederik led a 300-person business unit, overseeing the delivery of Second Party Opinions (SPO), ESG Rating licenses, and Pre IPO-Ratings to corporates. Under his leadership, the Corporate Solutions Division earned many accolades, including recognition as the Best Second Party Opinion Provider for Corporate ESG Bonds in 2022. Diederik also spearheaded the establishment of a groundbreaking climate research division, driving initiatives to assess the climate risks of thousands of issuers worldwide. Before the acquisition by Morningstar Inc., Diederik served as Executive Vice President & Managing Director at Sustainalytics, where he defined and implemented a commercial strategy that propelled the company to high year-over-year revenue growth.
Diederik is a Board Trustee at Knology, a non-profit research organization that translates social science into actionable solutions. He also served as Chair of the Board at US SIF, the industry association of sustainable investors in the United States, where he played a pivotal role in shaping the organization's strategic direction and governance practices.
With a strong foundation in finance and economics, Diederik continues to drive positive change and innovation at the intersection of business, societal and climate impact, and investment.
